I'm new to this, where would I start to find out how to configure the BMC?

Does the BMC have a dedicated ethernet port or does it share one of
the server NICs?

I'm assuming I can assign the BMC a different IP address than the
server and that it will be reachable even when the server is powered
down, is that correct?
