PE 1855 - RHEL4 u4 - OM 4.5

Hi trying to install OM on the above combo - box if freshly built and 
up2date'd to...

[root at xxxxx4302 x]# uname -a
Linux xxxxxx4302 2.6.9-42.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Jul 12 23:27:17 EDT 2006 i686 
i686 i386 GNU/Linux

however trying to start OM gives this -

# srvadmin-services.sh start
Starting Systems Management Device Drivers:
Starting dcdbas device driver:                             [FAILED]

and i see

# cat /var/log/dcdbas.log
mknod: wrong number of arguments
Try `mknod --help' for more information.

mknod parameters:
NAME:  /dev/EsmBASDev0
TYPE:  c
MAJOR:
MINOR: 0

anyone know whats wrong here - i had been finding OM installs pretty 
straight forward recently!
