Dell 2161 DS utility under linux

I have problems running the Dell 2161 DS utility under linux ( ubuntu  
6.06 dapper drake )
The site and several posts on this mailinglist tell me that it should  
also be running under Linux.

Does anyone know how to get this utility running?

I already have Sun Java Runtime Enviroment installed.

With the use of WINE, I already can start the program but then the  
execution of the program stops with the error
"Could not start the application"
"Reason: Unable to start the database service"
