not sure if it might help you - but I had a 'similiar' experience
a while back in:
http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2006-March/025027.html
Some errors I've seen:
https://www.undermydesk.org/pics/raid_gone_bananas.jpg
and as well the journal errors you've reported.
The final solution was to upgrade the harddisks firmware.
(or at least - this was the point where the error didn't manifest
itself anymore... .oO crosses fingers)
The harddisks in questions are:
Channel: 0 Id: 0 State: Online.
Vendor: MAXTOR Model: ATLAS10K5_73SCA Rev: JT00
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03
Channel: 0 Id: 1 State: Online.
Vendor: MAXTOR Model: ATLAS10K5_73SCA Rev: JT00
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03
Channel: 0 Id: 2 State: Online.
Vendor: MAXTOR Model: ATLAS10K5_73SCA Rev: JT00
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 03
and - as noted above - the current firmware (downloaded from DELL)
is 'JT00' now.
