Yes, use limits.conf. But don't forget about the ssh bug!

Did you edit /etc/security/limits.conf?
You need to set:
* soft nofile 128000
* hard nofile 128000
Also you may need to set noproc too.

I migrate java application from old server to DELL PE2850 , OS
upgrade
to Redhat enterprice AS3 update 4 x86_64 form redhat 7.3. But java
application got hang sometime.
Java program always hang.. message "Too many open files" appears
sometime.
perform command lsof will appear following error message.

Redhat enterprice AS3 update 4 x86_64
j2sdk1.4.2_03
CPU Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz *2
MEMORY 2G
I already did following solution:
1/disable exec-shield, echo 0 > exec-shield ; echo 0 > exec-shield32
;
2/upgrade jdk to 1.4.2_08
But problem still ......
How can I do ?
