Hi, Steven,

Hope you can benefit from below installation guide if your raid card is also PERC4x/SI.

Regards

//****************************************************************************************//

Install Redhat Linux 9.0 on PE1850/2850/2800/1800
1> Download perc 4e/si raid driver
ftp://ftp.lsil.com/pub/linux-megaraid/drivers/

Make a boot floppy dish with rawritewin using the first installation disk of your RH9

Install RH9 following the normal procedule.

2: Download NIC driver
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Product_Filter.asp?ProductID=1641
installation manual
ftp://aiedownload.intel.com/df-support/2897/ENG/README.txt
copy to floppy
mount /mnt/floppy
cp e1000-5.4.11.tar.gz /root
cd /root
tar zxvf e1000-5.4.11.tar.gz
cd e1000-5.4.11/src
make install
insmod e1000
netconfig
/etc/init.d/network restart
cd /usr/src/
tar zxvf 1850_scsi_raid_linux-2.4.27.tar.gz
ln -s linux-2.4.27/ linux
cd linux
make modules modules_install
mv /etc/modules.conf /etc/modules.confbak
make install
vi /etc/grub.conf

The raid card and NIC driver in 1850_scsi_raid_linux-2.4.27.tar.gz is in module mode, so you have to edit below configuration file:

[root at localhost root]# more /etc/modules.conf
alias scsi_hostadapter megaraid2
alias eth0 e1000
alias eth1 e1000

update the NIC driver in kernel
cd e1000-5.4.11/src
make install
check dmesg

Default NIC kernel driver before update is:
Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - version 5.2.52-k3
Copyright (c) 1999-2004 Intel Corporation.
e1000: eth0: e1000_probe: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection
e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex

After update:
Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver - version 5.4.11
Copyright (c) 1999-2004 Intel Corporation.
e1000: eth0: e1000_probe: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection
e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 100 Mbps Full Duplex

Install dellmgr
http://ftp1.us.dell.com/scsi-raid/megaraid-util-rh8.0-i386.tar.gz
tar zxvf megaraid-util-rh8.0-i386.tar.gz
rpm -ivh dellmgr-5.23-1.i386.rpm
rpm -ivh megamon-3.6-0.i386.rpm
/etc/rc.d/init.d/raidmon start
/usr/sbin/dellmgr
