slow NFS with sync option

Hi,

I'm setting up an highavailable NFS-Service with the 
RHEL 3 cluster manager (version clumanager-1.2.9-1) on two PE2650.
I mount the devices with the sync option from a
EMC Symmetrix.
I use two fibre channel HBA's QLA2340 with
driver 6.06.00b11 (standard driver from kernel 2.4.21-9.0.1.ELsmp)
and PowerPath 3.06.
The copy of a file with 200 MB needs 17 minutes.
I think this is very slow.
Has anyone an idea?
