Kernel 2.4.18-3 is evil, don't use it.  Upgrade to at least -10.  You'll
also note that there is a kernel-debug-* kernel available which already has
debugging capabilitites enabled - no patching yourself needed.

I applied kdb patch for kernel 2.4.18-3 and rebuilt the kernel but the 
kernel is not booting up. What should be the initrd= option in lilo.conf. 
Also if I say initrd=...img from some other image and boot the kernel kdb is
not coming up.
