poweredge 4400 raid memory update

Reread my info on 128mb dimms being the largest that we sell for the raid
cards. I think the errors you are getting would be a good reason why we
dont sell anything larger than that.

thanks everyone for the outpouring of advice. I've tried non-ecc dimms (100
mhz) and the aren't recognized, and the one it came with (64mb) has 9 chips
on the dimm, which makes me think it's ecc. got a bunch of ecc 256mb but no
128 ecc, oh well.

on another note memory I put 512 mb ecc dimms (133 mhz) in and I get a
message 'Unsupported memory in slot E!' and it prompts me to hit F1 to
continue or F2 for setup. Anyone know how to get rid of that? if I have to
reboot the box remotely then I am thinking I will be out of luck as it won't
get past that screen.

128mb is the largest the cards support, atleast that i know we sell that as
the largest dimm possible. The retail equivelent cards might be able to
handle more but i havent tried those.
Good luck

right on, thank you. I have a few spare 128mb 100mhz I will try and see if
they work. So far have been able to determine that they will take 128mb in
the cache

The description for that part(s) (like on your order) is:
DIMM,64,100M,8X72,4K,168,ROMB
so it seems to be non-registered or non-ecc ram.
Generally if it is registered then it would have either R or REG on the
description line.

Hey y'all,

does anyone here know the memory specifications for the perc3di raid
controller on a poweredge 4400? I've spent a couple hours on the web and on
dell's site but haven't been able to get any information on if it's
registered or regular dimms. anyone know?
