Flash a PER3/QC on a live system

Yes, I would love to know the answer for that, as we have a number of
remotely co-located systems, which we wish to update.

BTW, has anyone successfully used the afacli (v2.6) to updade the
firmware flash of a PERCRAID card, using the 'controller firmware
update' command?

As a test, I performed the 'controller firmware save' successfully,
but when I try to compare the saved UFI files to the current firmware,
the afacli dumps core:

AFA0> controller firmware compare perc301.UFI
Executing: controller firmware compare "perc301.UFI"

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Enabling debug logging with '/usr/sbin/afacli -l 5 -m all' just shows
this:

 1030 1024 TERM  -- DoPrintOUTPUT: mvwaddstr [ 11,  0],
[STR=53:Executing: contr
oller firmware compare "perc301.UFI" ]
 1030 1024 TERM  -- DoPrintOUTPUT: MoveOutputCursor [ 12,  0]
 1030 1024 TERM  <- DoPrintOUTPUT
 1030 1024 TERM  << FCUX_AUTORELEASE_MUTEX: FAUX_MUTEX_UNLOCK:  OUTPUT
 1030 1024 TERM  <- PrintOutput
 1030 1024 TERM  <- FormatOutputText
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_generalHandler[11:SIGSEGV]
 1030 1024 SIGNA <> faux_cleanUpCurses
 1030 1024 TERM  >> FCUX_AUTORELEASE_MUTEX: FAUX_MUTEX_TRYLOCK:
EndCurses   : at
tempt to lock
 1030 1024 TERM  -> EndCurses
 1030 1024 SIGNA -> FsaUxInitSignal
 1030 1024 SIGNA -> faux_InitSignal
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[ 1:  SIGHUP: GENERAL:0x080f4938]
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[28:SIGWINCH: GENERAL:0x080f48e0]
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[ 2:  SIGINT: DEFAULT:0x080f490c]
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[ 6: SIGABRT: DEFAULT:0x080f490c]
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[ 7:  SIGBUS: DEFAULT:0x080f490c]
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[ 8:  SIGFPE: DEFAULT:0x080f490c]
 1030 1024 SIGNA -- faux_InitSignal[11: SIGSEGV: DEFAULT:0x080f490c]

This is on a Dell 2550 with Perc3/Di FW 2.6, afacli 2.6.

Again, we would love to be able to use the Linux afacli utility to
update the firmware, rather booting off a DOS floppy to run the AFU
stuff.

Thanks,

David.

: Hi,
:

: I think it shouldn't be a problem i just wanted to have a

: before I used to flash cards with a boot disk and not on a
