I have it compiled into the kernel, as my / (reiser) & /boot (ext2) are on the
RAID5 disks on a 2450. I'll be compiling 2.4.14+2.4.13aacraid+LVM+ext3
today and do some preliminary testing (remote machine until I'm back next week)

That could also be a slight difference I've forgot to mention
(RedHat etc. typically have the aacraid as a module, and then modprobe
 it inside a initrd at boot time)
