Knetworkmanager went positively psychotic on me in my gutsy install
(preventing Konqueror from accessing the network) and I had to remove it, but
doing an iwlist, iwconfig, and ifconfig by hand my ipw3945 card seems to work
fine under 7.10.
The knetworkmanager bug is here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/knetworkmanager/+bug/86680
It's not just broken, it's mis-designed so that it communicates its incorrect
view of the world to other apps via dbus, so that they don't even _try_ to
make network connections when there's a perfectly good network up and
running. (I.E. they added extra complexity that serves no purpose when it's
working. It seems to exist solely to add the possibility that it can break
and screw things up. I have _no_idea_ what they were thinking.)
