So 915resolution didn't work for you?

Did you try setting the resolution in the 915resolution default file?

If you are needing 915resolution to set two resolutions, (laptop and
external) I believe that you have to do it manually and edit your
xorg.conf accordingly.

If this is your issue, I may be able to track down where I saw this discussion.
