This card works on Linux pretty well. You've got to install:
* kernel module (ipw3945),
* fresh ieee80211 kernel module
* ipw3945 microcode
* ipw3945 daemon

There is a work in progress (in Intel) to be able to get rid of the "daemon". 
It makes the whole thing a little bit more complicated because apart of 
loading the kernel module, You have to start ipw3945d.

Some distros should have all the required things packaged. Eg. on Fedora, I 
just needed to add atrpms.net repository, and 'yum install' necessary 
packages.

PS. If You want to use WPA encryption rather than WEP, You'll need also 
wpa_supplicant package.
