The sound works here (had problems with it, too): Suddenly, it worked
after a boot. However, the card is muted after startup (use the Gnome
volume settings beside the clock) but I think I may overlooked that
Totem has its own volume settings and these had to be touched, too
(only the first time).

Good news: Redhat was able to fix the network problem. See Bug 208242:
"b44 module doesn't work with xen kernel" [1]. After installing this
kernel, the network card works (still testing, but no problems so
far).
