Fedora Core 6 and Latitude D820 A-

So I got a brand-new Latitude D820, and wanted to see how it ran with
FC6 out of the box. When purchasing it, I made sure that I went with
Intel cards for wifi and video. FC6 installed beautifully on the box..
with no problems that weren't 'known issues with FC6 install.'

Xwindows worked out of the box (I had had minor problems with an D800
and D810 so I was happy here).

sound worked out of the box (I had had some problems with the Intel
chipset so I was again happy here).

on-board networking worked great.

wireless is where I am having problems, but it is probably known issues.

I corrected the known kernel problem (installed an i686 kernel) and
downloaded the freshrpms dkms ipw3945 items. Everything seemed to work
great.. if I did an ifup I was able to associate with our unencrypted
open WAN. However, for some reason NetworkManager does not seem to be
able to do so.. without me killing/starting dhcpd underneath it. [And
no luck with wpa2 network yet.]

But on the whole, I am very happy that this was the most painless
Linux install I have had on a laptop in 10 years. Thankyou guys.
