aacraid controller locks linux kernel

Hey Bruce,

I cannot say to you if there is a problem with
smartmontools because I have never used it but I
registered one year ago on this list because I had
lots of problems ( scsi hang error ) by trying to run
linux ( so aacraid module ) with my Adaptec 5400s
controller and.

After three months of discussion on this list with
many other users having the same problem, I tried
another Unix as FreeBSD to see if it was my system
that encountered some hardware problems and everything
is working fine ... no problems anymore and I use this
machine as a file server and web server.

So I just can say to you that lots of people encounter
problems with aacraid module on linux and that those
problems are not corrected until now.

So, maybe kernel 2.6 will bring some solutions to
these problems ...

Regards
Vincent.
