Hardware:
Dell PowerEdge 2500
PERC3/Si
Intel 82559 (Pro/100+)
OS: Linux
Situation: I would like to upgrade the kernel to the newest stable version
(2.4.16).
The Intel 82559 Driver only mentions that it works up until 2.4.9, however
2.4.9 (according to the people at reiserfs.org) has memory management
performance problems.
I spoke with a technician at Dell on Monday, December, 18th, 2001 and was
told that the highest kernel they consider "supportable" in reference to the
PERC3/Si card and drivers is 2.4.10.
When I try patching 2.4.10 with the PERC3/Si drivers as specified on the
site (domsch.com, file: linux-2.4.15-aacraid-20011123.patch.gz) I get
rejections on the primary Makefile and on drivers/scsi/Makefile. I patched
both myself based on the rejections. Once I get to do an actual "make" I
end up with a massive amount of error messages and the make fails
completely.
Anyone know the most stable/secure situation I can use for this?
