Hi,

As stated in the title, this is a newbie asking.

When using the script dellLcdBrightness, to try to set the brightness
value of my LCD screen, I've ran into the following error:

~$ sudo dellLcdBrightness -a -v 4
Read AC Mode Setting
    current: 7
    min: 0
    max: 7

Write AC Mode Setting
An Error occurred. The Error message is:
Unsupported SMI call.

I'm using a Vostro 1000 with a Turion 64 CPU. It is a dual boot on
Windows XP and Ubuntu 7.04; I've been trying to use the script
dellLcdBrightness because the brightness keys are behaving strangely
on Ubuntu (they work fine under winXP).

Is that because I'm on a 64 bit kernel ? What could cause that error ?
Any ideas on where to look for ?
