All,
Some folks are having upgrade problems with the last two sets of
RPMs which I released for libsmbios (0.13.12 -> 0.13.13). I made a
mistake when releasing 0.13.12, and the bad version was in the
repositories for about a week before I released 0.13.13 with fixes.
What is happening:
I am about ready to start a beta cycle for libsmbios version 2. In
looking at how to release version 2, I realized that I would have to
ensure that people could install version 1 and 2 at the same time. To do
this, I would have to rename the RPMs. Unfortunately, I had *just*
renamed the RPMs (starting with 0.13.12). Bad timing on my part. In
order to make things easier, I switched version 0.13.13 back to the old
naming convention, and this is where the upgrade problem comes in.
What to do if you are affected:
Remove the following RPMs by hand: libsmbios, smbios-utils,
libsmbios-devel. (possibly using --nodeps, if required.) Then, reinstall
'libsmbios-bin' to get the 0.13.13 (new) RPMs with the old naming
convention.
I will be sending out information about libsmbios v2 in an upcoming
email. I will be releasing v2 into the Dell repository in the coming
days. Both v2 and v0 will available in the repository.
