New to firmwaretools with a studio laptop

Hey all,

Purchased my first Dell the other day, a Studio17.  Although it will be a 
couple of weeks before I get it, I've been looking into a few things and 
found out about firmware-tools.

I'd be interested to try it out on my new machine when it arrives, but am not 
even sure if it will work on a studio machine.  Some things on the wiki seem 
to suggest firmware-tools is for PowerEdge servers only.  So what systems 
should be supported?
