update_firmware error - this time an 1850 and RHEL4.6

When I have seen this, it was because the inventory collector was returning invalid XML. Does it do this every time? I've seen it have a transient problem, myself (run it once, it does this, run it again and it works ok.)
Can you:
# cd /usr/share/firmware/dell/dup/dell_inventory_collector_version_5.3.0/
# LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$PWD ./invcol
And send the output?
