Inspiron 1501 firmware missing

Hi!
I've been trying to update the BIOS of my Inspiron 1501 from within Ubuntu
hardy today using the method described here:
http://linux.dell.com/wiki/index.php/Repository/firmware
Unfortunately it did not work. At first, I thought it was a bug in the .cgi
script because the dell-firmware and dell-software repos were not added to
the sources list (I ran the script several times, but they were still
missing). After realizing that, I added them myself and ran the
aptitude install $(bootstrap_firmware -a)
command again. But still no firmware available for my laptop. I decided to
search the firmware repo manually and went to
http://linux.dell.com/repo/dists/cross-distro/dell-firmware/binary-i386/
just to realizee that the 1501 BIOS is indeed not available!
There are firmwares for many other Inspiron models so I wonder if there is a
special reason that mine is missing? The currently installed BIOS is version
2.4.1 and the latest version is 2.6.2. Version 2.6.1 is marked as "urgent".
But, since I've only installed Linux (no Windows) I cannot update the BIOS.
Therefore, my question is: can anyone please add the 1501 BIOS to the repo
or maybe give me a version that can be installed from a bootdisk (CD only)?
There is only a Windows version downloadable...
Regards
