Users? Less so. Debian Developers, sure. :-)
We already have the tools to generate BIOS updates as debs. Those are
posted in an apt-ftparchive at linux.dell.com/repo/. Ubuntu has
firmware-addon-dell, firmware-tools, firmware-extract, dell-dup, and
maybe other related packages. Debian and Ubuntu both have libsmbios
thanks to José Luis Tallón.
A DD (or someone willing to run the gauntlet and then find a DD to
sponsor the upload) needs to look at these packages in Ubuntu and do
what's needed to put them into Debian. We don't have any DDs on
staff, but we do have an Ubuntu MOTU, and Fedora packagers. If you're
a DD and are interested in helping, we'd appreciate it.
