Latest tools not working properly?

Are you on an actual EL4 system? That is the only thing I can think of. I use mock/plague to build the RPMS in a chroot environment to match what they are supposed to be deployed on. If, for example, you pulled the RHEL4 RPMS and tried to install them on FC6, they would not work because they are installing the python components in the python 2.3 site-packages dir.

Clifuncs.py is in firmware-tools RPM. This code has not changed in a
release or two.

[michael_e_brown at humbolt noarch]$ rpm -qlp
firmware-tools-1.0.21-1.el4.noarch.rpm | grep cli
/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/clifuncs.py
/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/clifuncs.pyc 

I don't have an EL4 box handy atm.
