So, manually installed the bios package:

yum -y install 'system_bios(ven_0x1028_dev_0x0121)'

now:


# update_firmware

Searching storage directory for available BIOS updates...


This system does not appear to have any updates available.
No action necessary.

probably related to the boostrap_firmware issue.
