Not a bad state, per se. It just couldnt allocate the memory that the update needed. It needed 1MB of physically contiguous memory and could not find it. If you reboot your system and run the command right after reboot it should work.
There is another method of doing the update, called packet mode, which does not have quite as stringent of memory requirements. I have disabled this by default because I didnt have complete test coverage, but it works for what I have tried.
Can you manually run the update and see if that works? If it does, I'll release an updated version without the blacklist.
Run:
dellBiosUpdate --force_packet --i_know_what_i_am_doing --update -f /usr/share/firmware/bios/(path to your system id)/bios.hdr
